Kate Pheasey – Mosaic artist

Kate lives and works at Rowland, near Bakewell in the Peak District National Park. Although mosaics are an ancient art form, Kate likes to experiment with more contemporary styles and materials. She likes to vary her work and so welcomes commissions which may take her in directions she would not have naturally chosen.
Her inspiration comes both from her surroundings – particularly the animals in her rural neighbourhood, and from the materials she uses. These are stained glass, with its vibrancy and stunning colours, ceramics with their variety of tones and textures, and slate and rusted metal to bring even more subtle textures.

Kate started working in mosaics in 2003 and a year later, set up her studio at home. In 2005 she became a member of British Association for Modern Mosaics, started to exhibit and undertake commissions.

Her work was shown in the BAMM exhibitions in 2006 and 2007.
Kate has had work selected for Art in the Gardens, Botanical Gardens, Sheffield and the Great Sheffield Art Show, and has exhibited in a number of local galleries.
She participated in the Derbyshire Open Studio events in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
