Christine Connick - Painter
Christine trained in Fine Art at Leeds, and on graduation, took up teaching. After working in education for many years she has now devoted her time to painting.
Her work combines both representational and emotional response to the subject. She seeks to capture a quality of atmosphere with colour and tone, whether vibrant or sombre. Local landscape and Cornish seascapes are both favourite subjects, as is still life. She uses a variety of medium, sketching in watercolour to capture transient effects of weather and light, then translating these immediate responses to her subject using oil or acrylic for finished work.
“I paint those things that are familiar and special to me; favourite pots and bowls; quiet backwaters; distant hills, the sea and sky of Cornwall.”
